The “Cry of Morrow” From Page to Screen

A Breakthrough in the Australian Short Film Scene

The Australian short movie industry was reinvigorated with excitement upon the introduction of “Cry of Morrow”, a film that quickly captured the attention of audiences craving something uniquely different.
The film’s origins can be traced to its prologue, which was initially penned for the book Scribe, an award-winning novel already making waves on its journey towards best-seller status. When “Cry of Morrow” was presented to a local  First Line Productions,  it was met with enthusiasm. As the film gained rapid popularity  the movie was entered into the esteemed Australian Short Movie Awards, becoming a standout contender in the competition.
Kez Wickham St George, celebrated author and publisher of Scribe, expressed immense delight at the film’s reception. Media outlets, including leading magazines and newspapers, praised “Cry of Morrow” for its refreshing approach and avant-garde style, further cementing its impact on the Australian creative landscape.
This collaboration between literature and film not only highlights the innovative spirit of Australia’s short film community but also showcases the power of cross-medium storytelling in capturing the imagination of a wide audience. Kez gives due credit to the actors Mike Sheehy and Tahlia Rose Aitkenhead for creating the atmosphere that was needed to bring the audience into the story.
